Putrajaya Wetlands is the first man-made wetland in Malaysia. Although it is man made, Putrajaya Wetlands is much more than just an efficient water filter. This area was bursting with natural beauty and was the perfect location for this weekend’s photo shoot. The Putrajaya Wetlands includes the Taman Wetland (138 hectares) and the wetland areas (1977 hectares). It is located 25km south of Kuala Lumpur and 20km north of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Putrajaya Wetlands is divided into 2 area. The first one is Wetland Park and adjacent to the main park, is the Lake Recreational Centre, where you will encounter a high element of fun within the lake. Enjoy the boat rides, kayak and canoe around the lake. For the more adventurous join the signature Putrajaya Wetland Camp Series. Fishing enthusiast, find your scenic spot to catch the array of freshwater fishes found in the lake.
Putrajaya Wetlands is also a wildlife sanctuary, attracting a wide variety of animals to the combined terrestrial-aquatic wetland environment. Marshes and swamps were developed in these cells by transplanting more than 70 species of wetland plants from the Putrajaya Wetland Nursery. Twenty-four species of indigenous fish were later introduced into the wetland cells to enhance their biological diversity and the list keeps on increasing. Several species of local marshland birds and water birds including the Little Egret, the Little Green Heron and Cinnamon Bittern and migratory birds from Northern Hemisphere have been spotted here.
The Wetland has an 18 meters lookout tower, plant nursery, nature trails, flamingo pond, picnic areas as well as other interesting attractions.
